When To Join Advanced SwingJive Courses
The Advance SwingJive level is ideal if you have been dancing with us for 6 or more terms. This should mean you have completed all THREE 10-week Inters Plus SwingJive courses, “Orange”, “Purple” and “Blue”.
The new Advanced level features 3 x 10 week courses containing the most challenging content on our regular courses. Each lesson features a 30 minute routine containing challenging steps that you can link to the moves you learned in previous lessons. The remainder of each session is dedicated to freestyle practice.
Just like the Inters Plus level, there are 3 terms with each containing different content. The 3 courses rotate during the year with Term 1 running in the Autumn, Term 2 starting every January and Term 3 starting after Easter.
Each new term of Advanced classes and dancing can be taken in any order.
What To Expect From The Advanced Class & Dance
Each Advanced SwingJive Course builds on what you have learned at the lower levels.
This level gives you new techniques. You will learn the Tandem Charleston, triple steps and the eight beat rhythm, learning how to apply these appropriately and integrate them with your existing dancing.
We’re always referring back to moves you have already learned so you’ll never forget them. Every time we show you a new move we will draw on moves that you already know to create new sequences. This course shows you how to extend those old moves. It challenges you to think about linking moves in ways you haven’t done before.
The format will see a 30 minute routine at the start of the session followed by a 30 minute freestyle practice time. We still maintain the popular feature of repeating the core move from the previous week.

Join us on Thursdays in Farnham for this limited run of 10 evenings featuring fun classes and dancing from 7.15-8.30pm. These evenings will feature an Inters Plus level 30 minute class, along with 45mins dancing to a Swinging playlist.
This format is designed so that those who wish to stay covid-safe are able to do so. This is achieved by limiting the capacity via pre-booking and attending with a dedicated dance partner. This allows suitable spacing on the dancefloor and in the seating area.
By remaining with your chosen partner during class you can keep your distance from others if you prefer. Those who wish to dance with others are free to do so during the freestyle dancing section of the evening.
These evenings are the perfect opportunity for you to continue your swing dance experience in a fun and friendly environment regardless of your previous level of experience.
What Happens?
At the start of each session, there is a 30 minute SwingJive class. Our team will then play your favourite tunes for freestyle practise. You can then dance and socialise until the last track finishes at 8.30pm. Our friendly team will be on hand too, in case you need help with any moves.
Who Can Come?
This evening is aimed at those who have already completed all 3 Inters Plus Courses.
Content within the 30-minute lessons will include faster-paced tuition that includes moves from across all Inters Plus level courses, along with variations not covered within the core SwingJive courses.

When to Take The Intermediate Courses
The Green and Yellow Intermediate courses can be taken in either order. They are designed to follow on from our Absolute Beginners SwingJive Course. It is best to complete both of the Intermediate courses before moving on to the Inters Plus level SwingJive courses. We alternate Intermediate Green & Yellow courses, if the current term offers one colour, expect the other colour to be available the following term.
An Intermediate course is normally the best option if you have been dancing with us for one or two terms. That is you have just completed the Absolute Beginners Course only, or the beginner’s course plus the other colour Intermediate Course.
What To Expect
Each Intermediate Course contains a similar number of moves to the Absolute Beginners Jive Course. The format and structure continue in the same pattern too.
On the beginner’s course, we keep the footwork simple. Most of the moves on the intermediate course have simple footwork too. However, we do add in new footwork rhythms. The six-beat rhythm is added early in each Intermediate course, as is the basic Charleston rhythm.
These new rhythms are great because they allow you to keep on dancing without having to keep on spinning all the time! Leaders can do a simple repeated rhythm and give themselves thinking time, ladies get a rest from all the spins!
So if you loved the beginner’s course you are sure to love the Intermediate SwingJive courses even more!
