Events Returning After Lockdown
Update 18th August 2021
With legal restrictions lifted we are now working towards bringing classes and events back in some locations. For the safety of all attendees, we have drawn up COVID-safe plans for each type of activity this Autumn.
This is a tricky period for us to navigate, as people will start to feel ready to return to face-to-face activities at different times. With continued uncertainty, we're not in a position to bring all previous classes back straight away.
COVID-Safe Plan for Workshops and Courses
Refresher Workshops
There has been a steady flow of requests for our courses to return to local venues, accompanied by concerns from dancers that they've forgotten much of what they had learned!
For this reason, we are running refresher workshops prior to the return of courses this Autumn at all venues that we have so far arranged. These workshops are aimed at giving people who have already taken our courses in the past the opportunity to recap the moves in a one-off, stand-alone evening workshop. These are mostly refreshers of the Beginners Course, with an Intermediate level refresher also available in one location. These refreshers will also help those people who did not complete a course they started prior to lockdown.

SwingJive Courses
Courses will resume at selected venues in September and October. Most venues will run Beginners and Intermediate Yellow, with a couple of venues offering Inters Plus Orange instead.
At present, we have confirmed lessons will restart at Farnborough, Farnham, Dorchester, Poole, Fareham, Gosport and Botley this September, all in the same venue and with the same instructor as before lockdown. We're still talking to staff and venues about restarting classes at other established locations and hope to resume soon.
Everybody who was on a course that was unable to finish prior to lockdown will be contacted directly with options.

Portsmouth with JG & The Ultimates
Our next intended date for the Portsmouth Swinging Ball is Saturday 4th September.
At this point we expect the event to go ahead, although there may be COVID-safe precautions such as reduced attendance, the use of the NHS COVID pass (available via the COVID app based on negative test within 48 hours, double vaccination or natural immunity) and bring-your-own drinks.
Following regular surveys, we know that a number of guests don't feel ready to attend yet, so we expect a natural reduction in attendance compared to normal. Although we are not selling any tickets currently, you can register on a waiting list as tickets are more likely to become available than normal.
Weymouth Pavilion Dance
This is scheduled for Sat 4th December 2021, postponed from April 2020. At present we expect it to go ahead on the new date as planned. Any COVID-safe restrictions will depend on the environment as we approach the date.
