Over the last decade, Si Cranstoun has taken the top spot as the most popular performer on the circuit for jive and swing dancers. With his soulful sound and exquisite showmanship this is a show that is sure to sell out.
Si Cranstoun and His Band Return
The Swing Dance Company first hosted Si Cranstoun and His Band back in 2015, we are delighted that he is returning for his sixth show for us!
Anybody who has taken our online courses should recognise some of Si Cranstoun's songs, as he kindly permitted us to use his songs alongside some of the routines.
Other big-name performers such as Mike Sanchez, The Jive Aces, King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys and The Regular Joes have graced our stage. We're delighted that Si Cranstoun and His Band were keen to return to The Swing Dance Company this year.
Just 15 minutes north of our previous venue and similar in size and layout, Barton Hall is a dedicated function suite at Horndean Technology College, Horndean, just 5 minutes from the A3. There is ample parking on-site, a welcoming reception area, a huge dance floor and a licenced bar.
Using The Venue's Bar
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable event for everyone, we'll have a fully licensed bar service provided by the venue's fantastic bar staff.
In accordance with licensing regulations and venue policies, please refrain from bringing your own beverages to this event. Please note that this is a cash-only bar.
Stay Hydrated Sustainably - Bring Your Reusable Water Bottle!
Free tap water will be available at the venue's bar. To help us be more environmentally friendly by reducing waste, as well as abiding by the venue's rules, please bring an empty reusable water bottle so that you can drink the water provided.

Our Swinging Balls are more than just live band events, with memorable decorations, themed treats, and fun surprises.
A spacious dance floor, ample seating, and tables will be awaiting you in the main hall. Attendees are encouraged to use the fully licensed bar. The evening is perfect whether you prefer to dance non-stop or just kick back, socialise and enjoy the live music. The venue is easy to get to, attracting dancers from all over the South!
Warm-Up Lesson & Swinging DJ
Our teachers will be giving a warm-up lesson to start the evening off, suitable for all levels. The Swinging DJ team will play a great mix of swing, rock’n’roll and rhythm and blues tracks to keep the dance floor busy at all other times.

Join Bob and the team for a two-and-a-half-hour workshop to learn the Shim Sham stroll at All Hallows School, Farnham!
This is THE classic jazz era stroll, which started life as an ensemble routine for tap dancers performing at shows and was adopted by dancers in the nightclubs of the 1930s. Legendary original-era lindy hopper Frankie Manning made sure to share this routine with a new generation of dancers when swing started to become popular again in the 1980s and 90s. It's a must-know routine for all swing dancers.
This workshop is taking place before the next Mytchett Tea Dance, so you can learn at our workshops and join in at the next social dance!
The Shim Sham is most frequently danced to the Jimmie Lunceford version of Tain't What You Do (It's The Way That You Do It) or the Erskine Hawkins version of Tuxedo Junction from the original Big Band era. More recently, Bill Elliott Swing Orchestra created The Shim Sham Song which is designed around the routine!
