The Swing Dance Company brought its popular 10 week courses to Poole for the first time in Autumn 2019. And we're now looking to establish a local team to partner our lead instructor. For the right person there is also an opportunity to train to become a lead teacher.
Join the Poole Team as a Demonstrator
In particular, we're looking for help with our new Poole classes on Thursdays at Carter Community School from 23rd January.
This could be a paid role (for a trainee teacher) or a voluntary role with benefits such as free dance shoes for an enthusiastic dancer who would like to get more involved. Please get in touch via our contact form so we can discuss.
The Poole classes are the newest classes for our Swing Dance Portesham franchise that launched in Autumn 2018 with other classes in Weymouth, Dorchester and Yeovil. The Swing Dance Company has been operating its courses in Sussex and Hampshire for nearly 20 years.
An Able Dancer from Any Discipline
This role would suit an able dancer from any dance discipline, whether you have experience in ballet, tap, modern, jive, swing, ballroom or latin it shouldn't matter. In a pre-term training session you will gain the skills needed to demonstrate on our Absolute Beginners SwingJive course.
Our lead teacher, Nicki, takes full responsibility for the classes so there would be no expectations on a volunteer demonstrator beyond stepping through the moves in class.
Trainee teachers will gradually develop their role in class over several terms. Further information for trainee teachers can be provided on application.
Age & Gender
Please get in touch regardless of age*, gender, orientation etc. We would particularly like to reinforce that many of our successful teachers and demonstrators are in the second half of their main careers, or even retired, so age is no barrier.
Equally this demonstrator role may provide valuable work experience for student age dancers or those looking to start a career in dance.
More important than these factors is whether you have a fun and friendly character that would fit in with the ethos of the dancers in our company.
*The minimum age for this role is 18.
