The Swing Dance Company hosts its Xmas Swinging Ball featuring 11-piece swing band The Regular Joes on Sat 10th Dec 2016. Adored by dancers at all levels, The Regular Joes are rated as one of the finest bands for dancing. They return to The Swing Dance Company after performing at our sell-out Valentine’s Ball this year.

This Xmas Swinging Ball is open to all, you’ll feel the love whether you come on your own, with a partner or with friends. Our celebrated Swinging Balls have been held at Admiral Lord Nelson School for 13 years and built a splendid reputation, attracting the UK’s finest jive and swing bands along with huge attendances.

The Regular Joes were formed by highly talented musicians who also dance, they make sure that each and every song is a hit on the dancefloor. Their playlist draws on old-school R&B, jump blues and classic swing. With a suave look there is a “Rat Pack” style cool about The Regular Joes.

Having performed at festivals including Goodwood Revival, Derry Jazz Festival and the Larmer Tree Festival, weekenders such as Hep Cat’s Holiday, Rock Bottoms and Jumpin’ At The Woodside and all dayers including The Jive Aces’ own “Big Jive All-Dayer”, The Regular Joes know how to get everybody dancing.

The Regular Joes have helped forge the reputation of our Swinging Balls, having performed to a sellout crowd at the Xmas Swinging Ball for The Swing Dance Company in 2011. Other big name performers such as The Jive Aces, Mike Sanchez, Si Cranstoun, King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys and The Swing Commanders have all appeared at our Swinging Balls over the years. We’re delighted that The Regular Joes were keen to return!

The Xmas Swinging Ball is more than just a live band event though – with some loving touches and a Red & Black Xmas theme you’ll enjoy a wonderful evening. Guests are invited to dress appropriately, our team will be busy dressing the venue especially for the night!

The Regular Joes perform at Buckingham Palace

The venue offers a spacious dance floor, ample seating and tables plus an inexpensive fully licensed in-house bar operated by our own friendly dancers. The evening is perfect for you whether you prefer to dance non-stop or just kick back, socialise and enjoy the live music and entertainments. Being just a few minutes away from the A27/M27 near the Eastern Road in Portsmouth, the venue is easy to reach from far and wide – we always attract dancers from all over the South! The venue has a large car park.

The band will be supported by swinging DJs and a warm-up lesson. The DJ team will play a great mix of swing, rock’n’roll and rhythm and blues tracks.
