Xmas Swinging Ball - Saturday December 3rd 2011

The Swing Dance Company host The Regular Joes at this year’s 9th annual Swinging Xmas Ball. The Regular Joes have been catapulted into the premier league of Jump, Jive and Swing bands after a fantastic couple of years. The Swinging Xmas Ball has sold out every year, with such a great band plus entertaining extras, this year will be no exception.

Identified as one of the top bands for dancers, this 11-piece act was created for dancers by dancers and delivers a truly swinging sound, which is enhanced by male and female vocals. Their unique recipe combines old-school R&B, jump blues, and classic swing, along with a tasty sprinkling of “The Rat Pack” to serve you up a swingin’, dancin’ treat!

Fresh from performances at this year’s Goodwood Revival and Hep Cats Holiday, the Regular Joes are returning to Hampshire after local dancers witnessed a fantastic summertime performance at Southsea Bandstand. Listen online using this link!

Having attracted the biggest names in the genre, such as The Jive Aces, King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys and Mike Sanchez it’s no wonder the event has sold out every year! The Regular Joes easily fit into that impressive list. Inspired by legends such as Louis Prima, Louis Jordan, Joe Williams, “The Regular Joes” will get you on your feet and dancing the night away! The band are keen admirers of contemporary swing ‘revival’ bands such as “Indigo Swing”, “Big Bad Voodoo Daddy” and Lavay Smith.

Apart from hosting the finest bands available, The Swing Dance Company’s Xmas Swingin’ Ball has built a splendid reputation based on quirky and entertaining extras. This year’s event will have a RED & BLACK THEME. Guests are invited to wear appropriately coloured outfits. Additionally there will be treats on arrival, unexpected surprises, half-time snacks and fun competitions, this event is as much fun to prepare as to attend!

The venue offers a spacious dance floor, ample seating and a fully licensed in-house bar operated by dancers, which enables us to keep the drinks prices in check. So the evening is perfect for you whether you prefer to dance non-stop or just kick back, socialise and enjoy the live music and entertainments. Being just a few minutes away from the A27/M27 near the Eastern Road in Portsmouth, the venue is easy to reach from far and wide – we always attract dancers from all over the South!

The band will be supported by swinging DJs plus much more. The in-house team will play a great mix of swing, rock’n’roll and rhythm and blues tracks, whilst guest DJs, the warm-up lesson and extra dance rooms will be announced over the coming days and weeks. The venue will be decorated with a fun festive theme and the evening will kick start with a warm-up class, suitable for all levels. £15 up to 5pm 31st October 2011
£17 up to 5pm on 30th Nov 2011
£20 after 30th Nov at 5pm if available

Refunds / Transfer of Tickets

If you cancel on or before 31^st October 2011, your payment will be refunded less a £5 admin fee per transaction.

If you cancel between 1^st Nov & 30^th Nov 2011 there will be a 50% refund of the value of the tickets plus a £5 admin fee per transaction.

There are no refunds for cancellation after 30^th Nov 2011.

Should you wish to transfer your ticket to a named person, please make a request to us at info@theswingdancecompany.co.uk. A transfer of booking is only valid with prior agreement from The Swing Dance Company administrative office and must be completed on or before 30^th Nov 2011.
