New Intensive 4 Week Fun Lindy Hop Mini-Course starts Thurs 31st May

For an hour each evening for 4 consecutive Thursdays, The Swing Dance Company Thursday night team will provide a thorough and comprehensive grounding in the basics of lindy hop. There will be limited spaces to ensure a great student to teacher ratio. The mini-course will be ideal to kick-start your lindy and provide a new challenge with incredibly fun, friendly and patient teachers!

Building Blocks

The mini-course will include all the building blocks of lindy hop in fun, bite-sized chunks;
- the basic rhythms; 8-beat, 6-beat and lindy Charleston
- the basic footwork options; triple steps, kick-downs, hold-steps
- the core moves; swing outs, turns and circles, lindy Charleston, including tandem
- fundamental dance technique; move your body efficiently and effectively with balance and poise
- jazz and original movements; release your demons and remember that dancing is fun!

This course would be ideal for you if;
- You’ve seen great lindy hoppers at local dances and have been itching to learn
- You’ve been attending lindy drop-ins recently but you’re frustrated because you can’t pick up the basics
- You’re a lapsed lindy hopper in need of a thorough re-introduction
- You’ve been Swing Jiving or Modern Jiving for a couple of years and want a bigger challenge
- You dance other styles and want to add this most amazing dance style to your repertoire
- You like learning in a fun & friendly environment and dancing to delightful uplifting music

What You Will Achieve

By the end of the course you should be able to attend any lindy hop class or dance with the confidence that you have a good knowledge of the basics. You’ll also have enjoyed evenings in great company with like-minded people!

How To Book

The course will be limited to a maximum of 12 leaders and 12 followers and there will be rotation throughout the classes. We welcome bookings whether you are on your own, with a partner or with friends. The venue is in the main function room at Fareham Working Mens Club, which has its own car park and licenced bar.

The 4 hours of tuition should be booked in advance. It’s only £26 if we receive payment on or before 24th May, £30 thereafter, all subject to availability.
