Beginners 3 Week Tandem Charleston Mini-Course starts Sunday 4th March

From 3.45pm for 1 hour 15 mins each evening over 3 consecutive Sundays , The Swing Dance Company team at The Botley Centre will provide a fun introduction to Tandem Charleston, explaining entry, exit and maybe some simple but impressive variations. There will be limited spaces to ensure a great student to teacher ratio. The mini-course will be ideal to add to your jive and swing with fun, friendly and patient teachers!

Building Blocks

The mini-course will include all the building blocks in fun, bite-sized chunks. Taught by Lorraine, with her experienced male demonstrator, you will cover the basic rhythm & footwork, and use that to develop the moves and integrate with your swing dancing.

Each teaching session lasts for 1 hour, followed by an additional 15 minutes of free practice.

This course would be ideal for you if;
- You have seen the tandem Charleston and want to learn it!
- You like learning in a fun & friendly environment

What You Will Achieve

By the end of the course you should be able to integrate basic Tandem Charleston with your jive or swing dancing. You'll also have enjoyed evenings in great company with like-minded people!

How To Book

The course will be limited in numbers to ensure excellent teacher / student ratios. The venue is at The Botley Centre, Botley, nr Hedge End which has its own car park.

The 3 hours of tuition should be booked in advance, using the “Book Now” option on the event page of our website. It's only £21 if we receive payment on or before Friday 2nd March, £24 thereafter, all subject to availability.

Put your lindy hop skills on show! Join a new intensive 4 Week mini-course starting Weds 7th March for intermediate lindy hoppers. The fee includes 4 x 1.5 hour classes, admission to The Summer Swinging Ball (standard price £20) on Sat 30 June and an exclusive course t-shirt .

Each Wednesday during March, the lindy hop team will provide a limited number of dancers the opportunity to learn a routine and understand the basics of performance. Participants will be given the option to perform at The Swinging Summer Ball on 30th June.

The mini-course will include;
- Swing out variations, Charleston, 6bt and jazz steps, so this course is perfect if you are an Intermediate dancer with an eye for nailing your moves!
- additional choreography, to be learnt
- information about how to adapt your lindy hop to suit a performance
- technique to improve your positional awareness, teamwork, balance, musicality, movement and timing

This course would be ideal for you if;
- You’ve been a regular attendee at a lindy hop drop-in class for between 6 months and 5 years
- You like performing, but have no or limited experience in performing lindy hop
- You like a challenge
- You want to be part of a team with like-minded people
- You like learning in a fun & friendly environment

What You Will Achieve

By the end of the course you should know the choreography to a routine that can be performed and you should have developed an understanding of how to adapt your social dancing to make it suitable for performance. You will have enjoyed evenings in great company with like-minded people!

Limited Places

The course will be limited to a maximum of 12 leaders and 12 followers, accepted on a 1st-come, 1st-served basis and there will be rotation throughout the classes. We welcome bookings whether you are on your own, with a partner or with friends. The venue is in the main function room at Fareham Working Mens Club, which has its own car park and licenced bar.

Entry to the Ball & Exclusive T-shirt Included

The fee includes 6 hours of group tuition on every Wednesday in March from 8.30-10pm, admission to the Summer Swinging Ball on Saturday 30th June (whether you perform or not) and a team t-shirt to be kept as a memento.
